Amy is the founder of the Law Offices of Amy E. Owen in San Antonio, Texas. A San Antonio native, she grew up in Terrell Hills and graduated from Incarnate Word High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she interned at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. She then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor while working at Cox and Smith in San Antonio.

Amy began her legal career as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Before leaving the office, she served as a Felony Family Violence Prosecutor. In 2010, she transitioned to private practice, where she has successfully defended clients in a wide range of criminal matters, including DWI, assault family violence, drug possession, aggravated robbery, and murder, achieving numerous acquittals.

In addition to criminal defense, Amy has extensive experience handling complex family law matters, including high-conflict divorces and child custody disputes. Her unique background in both criminal and family law allows her to effectively represent clients when these legal issues overlap, such as criminal charges arising during divorce or custody proceedings. As the leader of her own firm, Amy remains committed to providing personalized, client-focused representation while helping clients navigate the challenges of the legal system and achieve the best possible outcome. She is admitted to practice in all State Courts of Texas and the Western District of Texas.
